ABOUT SUPPLEMENTS

In the recent decade, we've seen drastic changes in the choices that individuals and families are making regarding food purchases, and this has resulted globally in a rapidly sweeping organic foods movement. While there is now a public demand for homegrown and locally produced organics, we need to look at the food industry from a larger perspective, when it comes to fully understanding the lack of nutritional substances that even organic produce cannot provide. Overpopulation, nutrient leached soil, and chemical pesticides used to maintain mass production of fruits and vegetables has had a detrimental effect on what even organic produce can offer. The truth is, most of the food that we eat is lacking important essential nutrients that once, long ago were wholly supplied by the plants.

THE BODY NEEDS

Building Your Best Immune System Support

Why Organic Food is Not Enough

There are key things the human body needs to be able to maintain a healthy body.

Minerals

Your body uses minerals in many ways, including building bones and hormone synthesis. Macro minerals, such as calcium and magnesium, are minerals the body needs in larger amounts. Trace minerals, such as selenium, copper and zinc, are necessary but needed in much smaller amounts.

Vitamins

Vitamins are crucial to normal growth and development. Vitamin C, for example, is used by the body to form collagen in bones, cartilage, muscle and blood vessels, and it also aids in the absorption of iron. Scientific research is just beginning to uncover the numerous benefits of Vitamin D, including support of bone, heart, immune and cellular health.

Vitamins are classified as either water-soluble (meaning they are not stored in the body and must be replaced each day) or fat-soluble (meaning the body does not need these every day and stores them in the liver when not used). Foods containing fat-soluble vitamins may lose them when cooked.

Amino Acids

These "building blocks of life" combine to form proteins. Their myriad of uses includes growth, muscle building and digestion. Amino acids are classified into three groups: essential (the body cannot make them; they must be obtained from diet); non-essential (synthesized by the human body) and conditional (essential when the body is under stress or in poor health).

Essential Fatty Acids

The Omega-3, Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids are essential to human health, playing an important role in a wide range of biological systems, such as reproductive, respiratory, cardiovascular, mental, and nervous and eye health. Studies show that most people aren't getting enough of these key nutrients.
